14th Parliament Of Singapore
The 14th Parliament of Singapore is the current Parliament of Singapore. It opened on 24 August 2020. The membership was set by the 2020 Singapore General Election on 10 July 2020. The 14th Parliament is controlled by the People's Action Party majority, led by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and members of the cabinet, which assumed power on 25 July 2020. The Opposition is led by Pritam Singh from the Workers' Party. Tan Chuan-Jin will be the Speaker of Parliament from the People's Action Party. Tan Chuan-Jin
Tan Chuan-Jin (; born 1969) is a Singaporean politician and former brigadier-general who has been serving as Speaker of the Parliament of Singapore since 2017. A member of the governing People's Action Party (PAP), he has been the Member of Parliament (MP) representing the Kembangan–Chai Chee division of Marine Parade GRC since 2011. Before entering politics, Tan served in the Singapore Army between 1987 and 2011 and attained the rank Brigadier-General. He made his political debut in the 2011 general election as part of a five-member PAP team contesting in Marine Parade GRC and they won with 56.65% of the vote.
