14 Days To Life
''14 Days to Life'' (german: 14 Tage lebenslänglich) is a 1997 German thriller film directed by Roland Suso Richter. Plot Young lawyer Konrad von Seidlitz is celebrating his engagement with Cornelia, the daughter of justice minister Friedemann Volkerts. He hasn't paid his parking fines for two years, and as a publicity stunt to boost his career, he insists on being sentenced to jail for two weeks as punishment. While inside, he behaves arrogantly, believing that his knowledge of the system will protect him. He manages to make a few enemies, however, and one day prior to his release, two hundred grams of cocaine are found in his cell during a search. Instead of being released after two weeks as planned, he is sentenced to two years without parole for drug trafficking as a result of a plot by his law firm partner Axel Häring, who is having an affair with Seidlitz's fiancée. Roland Suso Richter
Roland Suso Richter (born January 7, 1961 in Marburg) is a German film director and producer. Biography Richter was born in Marburg and lived there until making his Abitur in 1980 at the local Elisabethschule. Wanting to pursue a film career, he worked as an intern for video productions and as an actor on stage. In 1982, he appeared as an extra in Rainer Werner Fassbinder's ''Veronika Voss''. A year later, he and actor Frank Röth produced their first film, ', which was released in 1985. Many TV films followed until '' 14 Days to Life'' was released in 1997, earning Richter favorable reviews. The 1999 film ''After the Truth'', a fictional account of an 80-year-old Josef Mengele's trial before a German court, did not receive funding from the German film foundation due to its controversial theme. Detlef Bothe (born 24 July 1965) is a German actor, screenwriter, film director and producer. Since the early 1990s, he has appeared in numerous film and television productions, both German and international. Peter Fitz (8 August 1931 – 10 January 2013) was a German stage and film actor. Biography Fitz completed an apprenticeship at the drama school of the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg in the 1950s. In the 1960s, engagements at the Schauspiel Frankfurt theatre followed. Director Peter Stein brought him into the ensemble of the Berlin Schaubühne theatre, where he worked under the direction of Stein as well as Klaus Michael Grüber. During the course of his career, Fitz performed at all major German-language venues, such as the Vienna Burgtheater, the Munich Kammerspiele, Berlin's Schiller Theater, as well as the Salzburg Festival.
