The 12 Koofi, more commonly known as Reer Marka, are a Somali confederation of clans inhabiting the city of Merca and other southern coastal towns of Somalia. Overview Reer Marka, also known as 12 Koofi are confederation of clans part of the larger confederacy Benadiri based in the southern port town of Marka. Members of this group of clans can also be found all over southern Somalia, especially coastal towns such as: Mogadishu, Baraawe, Kismayo, Gendershe, Dhanaane, Jilib, Marka and Jaziira. Language Reer Marka or the 12 Koofi speak a very unique dialect of the Somali language even though Lamberti labelled this the Albakri(duruqbo) dialect the locals call it Mah doonte or Aff May Doonte. Clan Tree This group of clans originally was originally made up of 12 clans hence the name 12 Koofi ( Somali: 12 Hats/Caps), however over the last century the number of clan groups part of this confederacy has increased due to merchant clans settling in from Baraawe and Mogadishu, ...

Sheekhaal
The Sheekhaal (var. Sheikhaal ( ar, ุดูŠุฎุงู„), also known as Fiqi Omar, is a Somali clan. They inhabit Somalia, Ethiopia, Djibouti and with considerable numbers also found in the North Eastern Province (Kenya), Northern Frontier District (NFD) in Kenya. Bravanese People
The Bravanese people, also known as the Barawani, are a minority ethnic group inhabiting the city of Barawe of Somalia. Origins As their name suggests, the Bravanese hail from ''Brava'' (Barawa), a port town on the southeastern coast of Somalia. Barawa is one of the most diverse place in Somalia. Sheekhaal Gendershe (Somali language, Somali: Benadiri Gendershe Arabic:ุดูŠุฎุงู„ ุฌู†ุฏุฑุดู‡) also known as Reer Aw Garweyne are a Benadiri people, Benadiri clan, mainly from the southern coastal towns of Gondershe, Gendershe, Merca, Marka and Mogadishu. The Gendershe have also established communities in the hinterlands in towns such as Afgooye and the villages surrounding it due to trading and farming. The Reer Manyo are confederacy of clans based in the southern coast of Somalia, primarily in the cities of Mogadishu and Merca and the towns and villages between them. Shanshiyo ( Somali: Shanshiyo Arabic: ุงู„ุดุงุดูŠ) or Shaanshi'' is a Somali clan, mainly from the southern coastal cities of Mogadishu, Marka, Baraawe and Kismayo which established communities in the hinterlands in towns such as Baidoa and Diinsoor due to trading.
