12 (Force Support) Engineer Group is an engineer formation of the British Army. History The group can trace its origins to 12th Engineer Brigade which was originally created to command the reserve Airfield Damage Repair regiments. In 1989 the brigade was under the command of the Eastern District, United Kingdom Land Forces and was headquartered at Waterbeach. The 36 Engineer Regiment is a regiment of the Corps of Royal Engineers within the British Army. The regiment trace their history back to before World War II as 36 Army Engineer Regiment. The regiment today is a general support engineer regiment provided force support within 12 (Force Support) Engineer Group. History 36 Engineer Regiment's predecessor was 36 Army Engineer Regiment which saw service in World War II. There is not much information written about this unit but it is known it was based in Germany when the war ended. In 1949, the regiment moved to Invicta Park Barracks in Maidstone, Kent. Wittering is a village and civil parish in the City of Peterborough unitary authority area in the ceremonial county of Cambridgeshire, England. The village is about south of the market town of Stamford in neighbouring Lincolnshire and about west of Peterborough's urban sprawl. 73 Engineer Regiment was a Territorial regiment of the Royal Engineers, part of the British Army active from 1969 to 2014. History 73 Engineer Regiment was formed when the Territorial Army was drastically reduced in the late 1960s. The regiment was created as a reinforcement combat engineer unit to support I (BR) Corps in Germany. From 1969 - 1991 the regiment was assigned to 29 Engineer Brigade. Army 2020, was the name given to the restructuring of the British Army, in light of the 2010 Strategic Defence and Security Review. Background The British Government gave an indication of its proposals for the future structure of the Army in early 2008, in a press report stating that it was considering restructuring the Army into a force of three deployable divisional headquarters and eight 'homogenous or identical' brigades, each with a spread of heavy, medium and light capabilities.
