129th Ohio General Assembly
The One Hundred Twenty-ninth Ohio General Assembly was a meeting of the Ohio state legislature, composed of the Ohio State Senate and the Ohio House of Representatives. It met in Columbus, Ohio from January 3, 2011 until December 20, 2012. While Ted Strickland was Ohio Governor for the first week of the biennium, John Kasich was sworn in during the second week. The apportionment of districts was based on the 2000 United States Census. This was the last time the 2000 census was used by the General Assembly to determine the apportionment of legislative districts. While the Ohio Senate was retained by the Ohio Republican Party, they won control of the Ohio House of Representatives from the Ohio Democratic Party. Ohio Statehouse
The Ohio Statehouse is the List of state and territorial capitols in the United States, state capitol building and seat of government for the U.S. state of Ohio. The Greek Revival building is located on Capitol Square in Downtown Columbus, Ohio, Downtown Columbus. The capitol houses the Ohio General Assembly, consisting of the Ohio House of Representatives, House of Representatives and the Ohio Senate, Senate. Jason Wilson (politician)
Jason Wilson is an American politician who served as a member of the Ohio Senate, representing the 30th District from his appointment in January 2007 to November 2011. He also served as the Director of the Governor's Office of Appalachia during the Kasich administration. Wilson is the son of former Ohio Senator and United States Congressman Charlie Wilson. Edna Brown
Edna Brown (April 7, 1940 – January 1, 2022) was an American politician, member of the Democratic Party and Minority Whip of the Ohio Senate, serving the 11th District from 2011 to 2018. She also served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2001 to 2010. Career Edna R. Brown had a 32-year career as an employee with the city of Toledo, followed by a six-year tenure on Toledo City Council. When incumbent Jack Ford resigned from the House to become Mayor of Toledo, Ohio, Brown was appointed to serve the remainder of his term. Shirley A. Smith (born November 29, 1950) is an American politician who served as a member of the Ohio Senate from 2007 to 2014. Previously, she was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives. She is a Democrat. Early life and education Smith is a native of Cleveland. She earned an associate degree from Cuyahoga Community College and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Cleveland State University. Capri Silvestri Cafaro (born November 21, 1977) is a former Democratic member of the Ohio Senate, representing the 32nd District from 2007 to 2016. Jimmy Stewart (born January 24, 1970) is a Republican politician who served in the Ohio General Assembly. He served as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives from 2003 to 2008, and in the Ohio Senate from 2009 to 2011. Biography After graduation from Marshall University and Xavier University, Stewart was a salesman for Caterpillar before winning election to Athens City Council and as City of Athens Auditor. With incumbent Kerry Metzger unable to run again due to term limits, Stewart sought to replace him.
