125th Ohio General Assembly
The One Hundred Twenty-fifth Ohio General Assembly was the legislative body of the state of Ohio in 2003 and 2004. In this General Assembly, both the Ohio Senate and the Ohio House of Representatives were controlled by the Republican Party. In the Senate, there were 22 Republicans and 11 Democrats. In the House, there were 63 Republicans and 36 Democrats. It is also the first General Assembly to use redistricted legislative districts after the 2000 Census. Ohio Senate
The Ohio Senate is the upper house of the Ohio General Assembly. The State Senate, which meets in the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus, first convened in 1803. Senators are elected for four year terms, staggered every two years such that half of the seats are contested at each election. Even numbered seats and odd numbered seats are contested in separate election years. The president of the Ohio Senate presides over the body when in session, and is currently Matt Huffman. Currently, the Senate consists of 25 Republicans and eight Democrats, with the Republicans controlling three more seats than the 22 required for a supermajority vote. Senators are limited to two consecutive terms. Marc Dann
Marc Dann (born March 12, 1962) is an American former politician of the Democratic Party, who served as the Attorney General of Ohio from 2007 until his resignation on May 14, 2008. Law career and state Senate Dann earned a B.A. in 1984 from the University of Michigan and a J.D. degree in 1987 from Case Western Reserve University. He practiced law in Youngstown, Ohio, and became active in Democratic Party politics. Dann ran for the Ohio state Senate in the district then comprising Trumbull and Geauga counties. He finished third in the party primary behind eventual winner Tim Ryan and a local township trustee. Randy Gardner (Ohio Politician)
Randall L. Gardner (born 1958) is an American politician, he formerly served as a Republican member of the Ohio Senate, serving the 2nd District from 2013–2018. He formerly held the same district from 2001 to 2008, and was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives from 1985 to 2000, and from 2008 to 2012. In January 2019 Governor Mike Dewine appointed Gardner as the Chancellor of the Ohio Department of Higher Education. Doug White (politician)
Doug White of Manchester, Ohio, is an American politician of the Republican Party party who was president of the Ohio Senate for two years, from 2003 to 2005. An Adams County Commissioner from 1985-1990, White opted to run against the Democrat Harry Mallott in 1990 for a seat in the Ohio House of Representatives. He was successful in his run, and was seated in 1991. He won re-election in 1992 and 1994. By 1996, Senator Cooper Snyder announced his retirement from the Ohio Senate after 17 years. Subsequently, White announced his candidacy for the seat. Ultimately Snyder resigned early, allowing the Senate Republicans to appoint White to the seat early, which they did. Lance Timothy Mason (born August 26, 1967) is a convicted murderer, former politician, government official, and judge, who served in various offices in and representing Cleveland, Ohio. As a judge, he served on the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas. He was a member of the Ohio Senate, representing the 25th District from 2007 to 2008. Marilyn Slaby (born November 19, 1939) is a former Republican member of the Ohio House of Representatives, who served the 41st District from her appointment in 2012 to 2018.
