122nd Ohio General Assembly
The One Hundred Twenty-second Ohio General Assembly was the legislative body of the state of Ohio in 1997 and 1998. In this General Assembly, both the Ohio Senate and the Ohio House of Representatives were controlled by the Ohio Republican Party. In the Senate, there were 21 Republicans and 12 Democrats. In the House, there were 60 Republicans and 39 Democrats. It used redistricted legislative districts from the 1990 United States Census. Ohio Senate
The Ohio Senate is the upper house of the Ohio General Assembly. The State Senate, which meets in the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus, first convened in 1803. Senators are elected for four year terms, staggered every two years such that half of the seats are contested at each election. Even numbered seats and odd numbered seats are contested in separate election years. The president of the Ohio Senate presides over the body when in session, and is currently Matt Huffman. Currently, the Senate consists of 25  Republicans and eight  Democrats, with the Republicans controlling three more seats than the 22 required for a supermajority vote. Senators are limited to two consecutive terms. David Goodman (politician)
David Goodman (born February 13, 1967) is Republican politician who serves as the director of the Ohio Development Services Agency, the state's economic development department. He served as the director of the Ohio Department of Commerce from January 2011 until March 2013. He has also served in both chambers of the Ohio General Assembly. Life and career A former assistant Ohio Attorney General, he served on Bexley City Council from 1995 to 1998. Goodman was appointed to the Ohio House of Representatives in 1998 to succeed Jim Mason, who had resigned. He won election to a full term in 1998, and again in 2000. Jay Hottinger
Jay Hottinger (born December 1, 1969) is a Republican member of the Ohio Senate for the 31st district. A longtime member of the Ohio General Assembly, Hottinger has served in both the Ohio House of Representatives and the Senate since 1995. Dixie Allen
Dixie Jean Woods Allen (née Woods; January 27, 1935 – March 31, 2019) was a politician from Dayton, Ohio, who served in the Ohio House of Representatives and on the Montgomery County Commission. After the resignation of Rep. Lloyd Lewis Jr. in 1998, Allen was chosen as a political newcomer to replace him. She went on to win a full term in 1998, and was reelected in 2000. In 2001, she opted for an appointment to the Ohio Senate, however did not obtain it. Instead she, won reelection for a third full House term in 2002, and again in 2004.
