The 11th General Junta was the meeting of the General Junta, the parliament of the Principality of Asturias, with the membership determined by the results of the regional election held on 26 May 2019. The congress met for the first time on 24 June 2019. Election The 11th Asturian regional election was held on 26 May 2019. At the election the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) remained the largest party in the General Junta but fell short of a majority again. History The new parliament met for the first time on 24 June 2019 and Marcelino Marcos (PSOE) was elected as President of the General Junta with the support of Podemos and United Left. On 29 July 2019, with the aim of avoiding a very big mixed group, a new proposal for creating groups with only two members was allowed. This reform allowed United Left, Asturias Forum and Vox to have their own parliamentary group. General Junta Of The Principality Of Asturias
The General Junta of the Principality of Asturias (in Spanish: ''Junta General del Principado de Asturias'', in Asturian: ''Xunta Xeneral del Principáu d'Asturies'') is the parliament of Asturias, an autonomous community of Spain. Its Statute of Autonomy, the basic organic law of the community, defines it as the supreme institution of representation of the Asturian people. Established in 1982, it has the name of an Asturian political institution that existed from the Middle Ages to the 19th century. The General Junta exercises the legislative power, approves the budgets of the community, and guides and controls the action of the Council of Government, the executive power, whose leader it elects as the "President of the Principality of Asturias". It also exercises all competences conferred or devolved to the autonomous communities in the Constitution of Spain and assumed by the community itself in its Statute of Autonomy and any other relevant law. Ignacio Blanco
Ignacio Blanco Urizar (born May 17, 1971) is a Spanish politician, lawyer and economist. He has been a member of the General Junta of the Principality of Asturias since 2019 for the Vox party. Biography Blanco is a native of Gijón and grew up in the Natahoyo district of the city. He studied business management at the University of Oviedo before completing postgraduate studies at the University of Wisconsin and a law conversion at the National Distance Education University (UNED). After graduating, he worked as the managing partner for a law firm in Asturias focusing on solvency matters and is a member of the Gijón Bar Association. He also authored a book ''The Expert and the Economic Test.''
