The 112th New York Infantry Regiment was an infantry regiment in the Union Army during the American Civil War. 3rd New York Volunteer Infantry Regiment
The 3rd New York Infantry Regiment was an infantry regiment that served in the Union Army during the American Civil War. It is also known as the Albany Regiment. They wore an americanized zouave uniform which consisted of a dark blue zouave jacket with red trimming, dark blue pantaloons, white gaiters, red fez with a blue tazzle, and a dark blue zouave vest with a red trimming. Service On July 30, 1861, it was ordered to Baltimore and quartered at Fort McHenry until April 1, 1862. The Summer of 1862 was spent at Suffolk and on September 12, 1862, it was again ordered to Fort Monore. The original members not reenlisted were mustered out in May 1863, but the regiment remained in the field composed of 162 recruits, 200 veterans. Army Of The Ohio
The Army of the Ohio was the name of two Union armies in the American Civil War. The first army became the Army of the Cumberland and the second army was created in 1863. History 1st Army of the Ohio General Orders No. 97 appointed Maj. Gen. Don Carlos Buell to command the Department of the Ohio. All the forces of the department were then organized into the Army of the Ohio, with Buell in command. Early in 1862, the army fought its first battle at Mill Springs, although only the 1st Division, commanded by Brig. Gen. George H. Thomas, was engaged. The whole army marched to reinforce Grant's Army of the Tennessee at the Battle of Shiloh. Buell was replaced as commander of the Department of the Ohio by Brig. Gen. Horatio G. XXIV Corps was a corps of the Union Army during the American Civil War. The Union Army of the James was formed in April 1864 under the command of Major General Benjamin Butler for the purpose of taking Richmond, Virginia and Petersburg, Virginia while the Union Army of the Potomac along with the separate IX Corps under the direction of Union General-in-chief Lieutenant General Ulysses S. Grant and the tactical command of Major General George Meade engaged Confederate General Robert E. Lee's Army of Northern Virginia in the Overland Campaign. XVIII Corps was a North Carolina corps of the Union Army during the American Civil War. Origins and makeup The XVIII Corps was created on December 24, 1862. It was initially composed of five divisions stationed in North Carolina, making it one of the largest in the Union Army (though two were detached to join the X Corps in early 1863), and placed under the command of General John G. It served during operations in South Carolina in the Department of the South, and later in Benjamin Butler (politician), Benjamin Butler's Army of the James, during the Bermuda Hundred Campaign, Bermuda Hundred and Petersburg Campaign, Petersburg Campaigns.
