Thomas Ostermeier
Thomas Ostermeier (born 3 September 1968, Soltau, West Germany) is a German theatre director. He currently mainly works for the Schaubühne. Biography Ostermeier began his theatrical career in 1990 acting under director Einar Schleef, one of his major inspirations, in his Faust project at Berlin's Hochschule für Künste. After the Faust project concluded in 1991, Ostermeier began studying directing at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin where in 1992 he met his mentor Manfred Karge. From 1993 to 1994 Ostermeier acted as Karge's assistant director and also acted in Weimar and at the Berliner Ensemble. ''The Imaginary Invalid'', ''The Hypochondriac'', or ''The Would-Be Invalid'' ( French title ''Le Malade imaginaire'', ) is a three- act ''comédie-ballet'' by the French playwright Molière with dance sequences and musical interludes (H.495, H.495 a, H.495 b) by Marc-Antoine Charpentier. It premiered on 10 February 1673 at the Théâtre du Palais-Royal in Paris and was originally choreographed by Pierre Beauchamp. Molière had fallen out with the powerful court composer Jean-Baptiste Lully, with whom he had pioneered the ''comédie-ballet'' form a decade earlier, and had opted for the collaboration with Charpentier. ''Le malade imaginaire'' was Molière's last work. He collapsed during his fourth performance as Argan on 17 February and died soon after. Paul Blackwell (11 July 1954 – 24 February 2019) was an Australian stage actor and occasional film actor. Early life He attended the National Institute of Dramatic Art from 1980 to 1982 and appeared in many productions from some of Australia's best-known theatre companies, including Company B, Sydney Theatre Company, State Theatre Company of South Australia, Patch Theatre and Opera Australia. He appeared in several films, though often in small parts. Ewen Leslie (born 27 July 1980) is an Australian stage, film and television actor. Career Theatre His first work on Sydney stages was performing at the Old Fitzroy Hotel theatre in Woolloomooloo. Jane Menelaus (born 1959) is an Australian actress who trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London, England. Stage Jane Menelaus has worked with both the South Australian and Melbourne Theatre Companies. Her stage work has included appearance in the Shakespeare plays, ''The Winter's Tale'' with the State Theatre Company of South Australia in 1987 (at The Playhouse in Adelaide, South Australia), and ''Troilus and Cressida'' (at the Old Museum Building in 1989). Sydney Theatre Company (STC) is an Australian theatre company based in Sydney, New South Wales. The company performs in The Wharf Theatre at Dawes Point in The Rocks area of Sydney, as well as the Roslyn Packer Theatre (formerly Sydney Theatre) and the Sydney Opera House Drama Theatre.
