Radio Broadcasting
Radio broadcasting is transmission of audio (sound), sometimes with related metadata, by radio waves to radio receivers belonging to a public audience. In terrestrial radio broadcasting the radio waves are broadcast by a land-based radio station, while in satellite radio the radio waves are broadcast by a satellite in Earth orbit. To receive the content the listener must have a broadcast radio receiver (''radio''). Stations are often affiliated with a radio network which provides content in a common radio format, either in broadcast syndication or simulcast or both. CFTX-FM (96.5 MHz) is a commercial Francophone radio station based in Gatineau, Quebec, Canada. The station broadcasts a French sports format branded as ''BPM Sports''. It is owned by RNC Media with radio studios and offices on Jean-Proulx Avenue in Gatineau. CFTX-FM has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 1,750 watts. The transmitter is on Boulevard St.-Joseph at Rue Bourque, near Quebec Autoroute 5. History The station received its approval in 2005. It signed on the air in 2006. CBO-FM is a Canadian radio station. It is the CBC Radio One station in Ottawa, Ontario, airing at 91.5 FM, and serves much of Eastern Ontario through a network of relay transmitters. CBO's Ottawa-area transmitter is located in Camp Fortune, Quebec, while its studios are located in the CBC Ottawa Broadcast Centre on Queen Street (across from the Confederation Line light rail station) in Downtown Ottawa. History CNRO was launched on February 27, 1924 as CKCH a Canadian National Railway radio network station, and adopted the CNRO call sign on July 16, 1924, in order to indicate its network affiliation.
