Radio broadcasting is transmission of audio (sound), sometimes with related metadata, by radio waves to radio receivers belonging to a public audience. In terrestrial radio broadcasting the radio waves are broadcast by a land-based radio station, while in satellite radio the radio waves are broadcast by a satellite in Earth orbit. To receive the content the listener must have a broadcast radio receiver (''radio''). Alexandra, Victoria
Alexandra is a town in north-east Victoria, Australia, 130 kilometres north-east of the State Capital, Melbourne. It is located at the junction of the Goulburn Valley Highway (B340) and Maroondah Highway (B360), in the Shire of Murrindindi local government area. At the , the town had a population of 2,695 and the broader area (Alexandra District) a population of 6420. Gold mining was the catalyst for the development of the town with many mines around Alexandra and particularly along Ultima Thule Creek, known locally as UT Creek, which runs through the town. The town's post office was opened in 1867. The town has a number of parks. CHUM-FM is a Canadian radio station in Toronto, Ontario, broadcasting on 104.5 MHz. Owned by Bell Media, the station airs a hot adult contemporary format. CHUM-FM's studios are located at 250 Richmond Street West in the Entertainment District, while its transmitter is located atop the CN Tower. CFLG-FM is a Canadian radio station, which broadcasts at 104.5 FM in Cornwall, Ontario. The station airs a hot adult contemporary format branded as ''104.5 Fresh Radio''. History The station was launched in 1957 by the city's daily newspaper, the ''Cornwall Standard Freeholder'', with the call sign CKSF-FM. The newspaper also already owned AM sister station CKSF. Two years later, the stations were acquired by Stanley Shankman, the owner of CJSS-TV, and both changed their callsigns to CJSS as well. Two years later, Shenkman sold his broadcast holdings. CBU-FM is a Canadian radio station, which broadcasts the programming of the CBC Music network in Vancouver, British Columbia. The station broadcasts at 105.7 FM. CBU-FM's transmitter is located atop Mount Seymour. The station was originally launched on December 12, 1947 as an FM simulcast of the CBC AM station CBR. It was rebranded as CBU-FM in 1952 when the Vancouver AM station was renamed. It was not part of the CBC's original FM network in 1960, but became part of the 1964 relaunch.
