New Wave Music
New wave is a loosely defined music genre that encompasses pop-oriented styles from the late 1970s and the 1980s. It was originally used as a catch-all for the various styles of music that emerged after punk rock, including punk itself. Stephen Marcussen is the founder and chief mastering engineer at Marcussen Mastering in Hollywood, California, United States. He has been mastering music since 1979. Biography Marcussen's introduction to music recording happened in 1976 when, at the age of 19, he was offered a janitor position at Studio 55, record producer Richard Perry's Los Angeles recording studio. At Studio 55, Marcussen received an education in all facets of music recording and sound production. By the end of his Studio 55 tenure, he had earned his first album credits as an assistant engineer, working on The Manhattan Transfer's ''Pastiche'', Boz Scaggs's ''Middle Man'', and The Pointer Sisters's ''Special Things''. Cy Curnin
Cyril John Curnin (born 12 December 1957, Wimbledon, England) is a singer/songwriter and musician and is the lead vocalist for the new wave music group, the Fixx. As a songwriter, he has co-written over a dozen songs that have appeared on the ''Billboard'' charts. He is also known for his solo career, with five albums to date, ''Mayfly'' in 2005, ''The Returning Sun'' in 2007, ''Solar Minimum'' in 2009, ''The Horse's Mouth'' in 2013 and ''Lockdown'' in 2020. He also released an EP of ambient music with no vocals called ''Cinema For The Blind'' in 2012. He appeared in the Tina Turner music video "Better Be Good to Me" along with Fixx guitarist Jamie West-Oram. They both appeared on the ''Private Dancer'' album. In addition to singing lead vocals, Curnin has occasionally played piano or guitar on various Fixx albums. "One Thing Leads to Another" is a song by English new wave band the Fixx, from their album ''Reach the Beach''. It is the band's most successful single, reaching number four on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in November 1983. It also peaked at number two on the ''Billboard'' Rock Top Tracks chart and became a number-one hit in Canada. Vocalist Cy Curnin has described the song as an indictment of dishonest politicians. Saved By Zero
"Saved by Zero" is a song by English new wave band the Fixx. Released in 1983, it was the lead single off their second album, ''Reach the Beach'', and is one of the group's best known hits. Their signature song is the follow-up single "One Thing Leads to Another". An extended 4:24 version of "Saved by Zero" is included as a bonus track on the 2003 reissue of ''Reach the Beach''. The song was featured in the fourth season of TV series ''Breaking Bad''. Composition and meaning "Saved by Zero" features a repetitive, jittery staccato guitar riff and corresponding bass. Jeannette Obstoj
Jeannette-Thérèse Obstoj (5 June 194926 March 2015) was a British lyricist, video-maker, music video director, poet and graphic artist. She is best known for her work as a lyricist, usually working in collaboration with musician Rupert Hine. The Hine/Obstoj team wrote songs for Tina Turner ("I Might Have Been Queen", "Break Every Rule"), Dusty Springfield (" Arrested by You"), and Wilson Phillips ("Eyes Like Twins"), as well as writing all the songs on Hine's solo albums ''Immunity, Waving Not Drowning'' and '' Wildest Wish to Fly'', and on the three albums Hine released using the identity Thinkman. The Fixx are a rock band from London, England, founded in 1979.
