Radio broadcasting is transmission of audio (sound), sometimes with related metadata, by radio waves to radio receivers belonging to a public audience. CKAP-FM is a Canadian radio station, which broadcasts at 100.9 FM in Kapuskasing, Ontario. The station airs an adult contemporary format branded as ''Moose FM''. CKAP also has a rebroadcaster in Hearst, CKHT-FM, at 94.5 FM. The station was launched in 1965 by Kapuskasing Broadcasting, airing at 580 AM. It was acquired by Mid-Canada Communications in 1987, becoming part of the Mid-Canada Radio network. In 1990, Mid-Canada Radio was acquired by the Pelmorex Radio Network. CBWK-FM is the callsign of the CBC Radio One station in Thompson, Manitoba. The station broadcasts at 100.9 MHz. The station's studios are located on Selkirk Avenue in Thompson. History The station signed on in 1980. Although separately licensed, for all intents and purposes it was a rebroadcaster of Winnipeg's CBW. It was upgraded to a full CBC production centre in 1994 to improve local service in rural northern Manitoba. CBQT-FM is a Canadian radio station. It is the CBC Radio One station in Thunder Bay, Ontario, broadcasting at 88.3 FM, and serves all of Northwestern Ontario through a network of relay transmitters. History The station was launched in 1973 as CBQ on 800 AM. The 800 frequency had been vacated earlier that year by the defunct CJLX. CBQ Radio's inaugural morning broadcast in December 1973 made it the second city in Ontario to get a regional broadcast centre. The call sign CBQ was a last minute choice by station managers since CBL (for Lakehead) or CBT (for Thunder Bay) were already taken by the CBC stations in Toronto and Grand Falls-Windsor, Newfoundland and Labrabor, respectively. Vision Christian Radio is an Australian narrowcast radio station owned and operated by Vision Christian Media, an affiliate of United Christian Broadcasters. It broadcasts a Christian radio format of music and talk from studios in the Brisbane suburb of Underwood, to a network of more than 720 AM and FM radio frequencies.
