''01 January'' is a 2009 Maldivian psychological thriller short film written and directed by Yoosuf Shafeeu. Co-produced by Shafeeu and Ahmed Wafau under Eupe Productions in association with Kids Productions, the film stars Shafeeu, Mohamed Farooq, Mohamed Rifshan and Yoosuf Zuhuree in pivotal roles. Premise Two promising surfers (Mohamed Farooq and Mohamed Rifshan) visits an island and stays at a guest room for three days, rented by a short-tempered and peculiar man (Yoosuf Shafeeu). He sets strange rules to be followed by tenants; return home before 11pm, never leave the door open and by no circumstances ever follow him to anywhere. The next day they made a plan to steal a large sum of money in a locked room of the house which Rifshan saw in a dream and interprets it as real since the facts coincides with what their friend who lives in the island says. Yoosuf Shafeeu
Yoosuf Shafeeu also known as Eupe (20 October 1975) is a Maldivian film actor, editor, writer, and director. One of the most successful filmmakers and actors in Maldivian Cinema, Shafeeu is the recipient of a number of awards, including eight Gaumee Film Awards, and a Maldives Film Award; ; holding the record of collecting maximum Gaumee Film Award for Best Actor. In 2003, the Government of Maldives honoured him with the National Award of Recognition. Hamdhan Farooq
Hamdhan Farooq (born 3 June 1983) is a Maldivian film actor. Early life Farooq was born on 3 June 1983 in Ga. Dhaandhoo. His parents, Ali Farooq and Mariyam Haleem are actors working in the film industry since 1997. He is the brother of actor Ravee Farooq and Hamdhoon Farooq. He credits his parents and brothers to be his inspiration to pursue a career in the film industry. Career In 2005, Farooq appeared in Mohamed Abdulla's comedy short films series '' Dheke Dhekeves'' in two of its installments, followed by several other productions from Abdulla's "Dheke Dhekeves" studio including '' Farihibe'' short film series and his comedy television series '' Mohamma Gaadiyaa''. Hussain Munawwar
Hussain Munawwar (born 5 February 1998), commonly known as Kuda Foolhu is a Maldivian film director, cinematographer, producer and actor. Career In 2006, Munawwar starred as the character Kudafoolhu, a manipulative devil under the strict instructions of his master, in the first installment of Yoosuf Shafeeu-directed short film series, '' Vasvaas'' which proved to be a breakthrough for him with his humorous and child-friendly act. He reprised the role in several of his other ventures including ''Kudafoolhuge Vasvaas'' (2006) and ''Kudafoolhaai Paree Dhahtha'' (2007). His performance in playing the character fetched him a Maldives Film Award for Best Actor in short films category.
