Secret (russian: Секрет, lit.: ''Secret'') was a Soviet Russian rock and roll band founded in 1982 in Leningrad. The band's musical style and image were inspired from 1950s and 1960s western music, in particular by The Beatles. The band's name was inspired by the Beatles song ' Do You Want to Know a Secret?'. Secret called themselves a "Beat Quartet" and were, along with Bravo, a part of Soviet rock and roll revival of 1980s. The original lineup lasted until 1990, when frontman Maxim Leonidov emigrated to Israel. The band continued with different lineups without great success. Since 1997 the original lineup has occasionally performed together including for anniversary shows in 2003 and 2007. Maxim Leonidovich Leonidov (russian: Максим Леонидович Леонидов; born February 13, 1962) is a Soviet and Russian musician, singer, actor, songwriter and TV presenter. He is known as one of the founders and members of the beat-quartet Sekret, and subsequently as a solo artist. In 1997, he won the Golden Gramophone Award. Bravo (russian: link=no, Браво) is a rock and roll band founded in 1983 in Moscow, Russia by guitarist Evgeny Havtan. Biography Drawing heavy inspiration from 1950s western music, Bravo was a part of the Soviet rock and roll revival of the 1980s, along with Secret. Their first album was made in 1983. Despite the fact that at that time rock and roll and beat music (except for The Beatles) were less popular among Soviet citizens than classic rock, the band was one of the most popular underground acts in Russia in the 1980s, until the departure of original lead singer Zhanna Aguzarova ( :ru:Жанна Агузарова) in 1988. Beat music, British beat, or Merseybeat is a British popular music genre that developed, particularly in and around Liverpool, in the late 1950s and early 1960s. "Do You Want to Know a Secret" is a song by English rock band the Beatles from their 1963 album ''Please Please Me'', sung by George Harrison.
