Žiga Dimec
Žiga Dimec (born February 20, 1993) is a Slovenian professional basketball player for Anwil Włocławek of the PLK. He also represents the Slovenian national basketball team. Professional career Dimec played in youth categories with Zlatorog Laško. For the 2010–11 season he was loaned to Konjice of the Slovenian Second League. From 2011 to 2014 he played with Zlatorog Laško. For the 2014–15 season he moved to Rogaška. In July 2015, he signed with Krka. On September 3, 2018 Dimec signed three-months deal with Medi Bayreuth. On November 27, 2018 Dimec signed with Lithuanian team BC Lietkabelis. On December 1, 2021, he signed with Anwil Włocławek of the PLK. Slovenia National Basketball Team
The Slovenia men's national basketball team ( sl, Slovenska košarkarska reprezentanca) represents Slovenia in international basketball competitions, and is managed by the Basketball Federation of Slovenia. Since the independence of Slovenia in 1991, the national team has competed at every EuroBasket, and reached the knockout stage at every championship since 2005. Their greatest achievement overall at the tournament came at EuroBasket 2017, where they won all nine games and became European champions. As of November 2022, Slovenia is ranked 7th in the FIBA World Ranking. History Before Slovenia's independence in 1991, Slovenian players represented Yugoslavia. EuroBasket, also commonly referred to as the European Basketball Championship, is the main international basketball competition that is contested quadrennially, by the senior men's national teams that are governed by FIBA Europe, which is the European zone within the International Basketball Federation. The competition was first held in 1935. The former Soviet Union holds the record for most gold medals with a total of 14. The tournament is generally held in August or September, in the offseason of major club competitions. The current defending champion is Spain, who won the 2022 title. Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, most commonly of five players each, opposing one another on a rectangular court, compete with the primary objective of shooting a basketball (approximately in diameter) through the defender's hoop (a basket in diameter mounted high to a backboard at each end of the court, while preventing the opposing team from shooting through their own hoop.
