Žarko Šešum
Žarko Šešum (; born 16 June 1986) is a retired Serbian handball player. Club career Born in Bačka Palanka, Šešum started out at his hometown club Sintelon. He was promoted to the senior squad in the 2002–03 season, at age 16. In early 2007, Šešum was transferred to Hungary and signed with MKB Veszprém. He helped the side win three consecutive championships. In 2010, Šešum moved to Germany and joined Rhein-Neckar Löwen, spending the next four years with the club. He subsequently played for fellow German team Frisch Auf Göppingen from 2014 to 2018, winning two successive EHF Cup titles (2016 and 2017). International career Youth At youth level, Šešum was an instrumental member of the Serbia and Montenegro winning squad at the European Under-18 Championship in August 2004. Bačka Palanka
Bačka Palanka ( sr-cyrl, Бачка Паланка, ; hu, Palánka) is a town and municipality located in the South Bačka District of the autonomous province of Vojvodina, Serbia. It is situated on the left bank of the Danube. In 2011 the town had a total population of 28,239, while Bačka Palanka municipality had 55,528 inhabitants. 2009 World Men's Handball Championship
The 2009 World Men's Handball Championship (21st tournament) took place in Croatia from 16 January to 1 February, in the cities of Split, Zadar, Osijek, Varaždin, Poreč, Zagreb and Pula. Croatia was selected from a group of four potential hosts which included the Czech Republic, Greece and Romania. The opening game and ceremony were held in Split, and the final game was played in Zagreb. France won the tournament after defeating Croatia in the final. Poland took the third place after winning over Denmark. Tickets for the tournament went on sale from 15 to 20 November. For the finals, ticket prices started at 700 kuna (c. €95). To promote the tournament, the Croatian National Tourist Board launched a series of presentations in the capitals of 13 participating countries. Magyar Kupa (men's Handball)
Magyar Kupa (English: Hungarian Cup) is the main domestic cup for Hungarian men's team handball clubs, which is organized and supervised by the Hungarian Handball Federation. The competition is held annually, starting in September and concluding in April. The teams play in a one-leg knockout system with a final four tournament in the end. The winner of the Hungarian cup get the right to participate in the next year's EHF Cup Winners' Cup, unless they secure a place in the EHF Champions League.
