Ūla Varėna
The Ūla ( be, Ула) is a river in Dzūkija National Park in southern Lithuania and northern Belarus. Its total length is 84 km. The Ūla flows into the Merkys. The river is mostly shallow, with colorful water foliage flowing near the surface. It has numerous bends, rocks and steep, sandy shores. Grodno Region ( pl, Grodzieńszczyzna) or Grodno Oblast or Hrodna Voblasts ( be, Гродзенская вобласць, ''Hrodzienskaja vobłasć'', , ''Haradzienščyna''; russian: Гродненская область, ''Grodnenskaya oblast''; pl, Obwód Grodzieński; lt, Gardino sritis) is one of the regions of Belarus. Merkys
The Merkys ( be, Мяркіс ''Miarkis'') is a river in southern Lithuania and northern Belarus. It flows for through Belarus, along the Belarusian–Lithuanian border, and through Lithuania before joining the Nemunas near Merkinė. Merkys is mostly fed by underground streams and therefore is cooler during summers and has smaller fluctuations in water level than other rivers of Lithuania, rivers in Lithuania. Near Žagarinė ( before its mouth) the Merkys is connected with Lake Papys by a canal. The Vokė originates from this lake and consumes most of the Merkys' water. Dzūkija National Park
__NOTOC__ Dzūkija National Park - a national park in Dzūkija, Lithuania, was established in 1991 in order to preserve the pine forests, the landscape, and the villages of the region. The area encompasses 584.53 square kilometers on the banks of the Nemunas River. The park is the largest protected area in Lithuania. It belongs to both the Association of Baltic National Parks and the Federation of European National Parks. Features The park enjoys a more continental climate than other parts of the country.
