Świdwie Nature Reserve
Świdwie (german: Neuendorfer See) is a lake in north-western Poland, and is the site of a nature reserve and a Ramsar site (one of 13 such sites in Poland). The lake is situated in West Pomeranian Voivodeship (in Police County) at the edge of the Wkrzańska Forest. It has an area of approximately . It lies on the Gunica River. The Ramsar Convention on Wetlands of International Importance Especially as Waterfowl Habitat is an international treaty for the conservation and sustainable use of Ramsar sites (wetlands). A Special Protection Area (SPA) is a designation under the European Union Directive on the Conservation of Wild Birds. Under the Directive, Member States of the European Union (EU) have a duty to safeguard the habitats of migratory birds and certain particularly threatened birds. It is made up of Special Areas of Conservation and Special Protection Areas designated under the Habitats Directive and the Birds Directive, respectively.
