Ōjiyama Kofun
The is a Kofun period burial mound located in the Nishikori neighborhood of the city of Ōtsu Shiga Prefecture in the Kansai region of Japan. The tumulus was designated a Monuments of Japan, National Historic Site of Japan in 1974. Overview The Ōjiyama Kofun is located in the southern part of the west bank of Lake Biwa, west of Keihan Electric Railway Ōmijingūmae Station, at an elevation of 164 meters. It is a "two conjoined rectangles" type tumulus (), orientated to the south. it is covered in ''fukiishi'' only on the side facing Lake Biwa, and there is evidence that it was designed to be visible from the lake. The tumulus was archaeological excavation, excavated in 1964 and 1970, at which time four burial facilities were found in the anterior portion and one in the posterior portion; however, a detailed investigation was not made of the burial chambers and grave good were not recovered. Ōmijingūmae Station
is a passenger railway station located in the city of Ōtsu, Shiga Prefecture, Japan, operated by the private railway company Keihan Electric Railway. Lines Ōmijingūmae Station is a station of the Ishiyama Sakamoto Line, and is 9.1 kilometers from the terminus of the line at . Ishiyama Sakamoto Line
The is a railway line in Shiga Prefecture, Japan, operated by the private railway operator Keihan Electric Railway. Stations History The Otsu Railway opened the Hamaotsu to Awazu section in 1913, electrified at 600 V DC. The line was extended to Ishiyamadera (as single track) the following year. Wani (scholar)
Wani ( ja, 王仁, 和邇吉師, Wani, Wani Kishi) is a semi-legendary scholar who is said to have been sent to Japan by Baekje of southwestern Korea during the reign of Emperor Ōjin. He used to be associated with the introduction of the Chinese writing system to Japan. Original sources and analysis Wani is mentioned only in Japanese history books; he is not recorded in Chinese or Korean sources. The main sources of Wani's biography are the '' Nihon Shoki'' (720) and the ''Kojiki'' (712). These stories have long been questioned by scholars. ( or "roofing stone") were a means of covering burial chambers and burial mounds during the kofun period of Japan (). Stones collected from riverbeds were affixed to the slopes of raised kofun and other burial chambers. They are considered to have descended from forms used in Yayoi-period tumuli. Keihan Electric Railway
, known colloquially as the , , or simply , is a major Japanese private railway operator in Osaka, Kyoto, and Shiga Prefectures.
