Đông Triều is a district-level town of Quảng Ninh Province in the north-eastern region of Vietnam. As of 2015 the district had a population of 173,141. The district covers an area of 397.2155 km². District-level Town (Vietnam)
District-level town (thị xã), a type of second tier subdivision of Vietnam is divided into 713 units along with urban district, district, municipal city, and provincial city have equal status. Also by virtue of Decree No. 42/2009/ND-CP, town are officially classified into Class-3 or Class-4. The towns may only be a capital of a province, but not of a municipality as the Second Tier unit. At the Third Tier, Town is divided into wards and communes. Most provincial capitals were once towns, but now most of them have become provincial cities. District level In Vietnam, there are other kinds of district-level urban subdivision: urban districts ( vi, quận), districts and provincial cities. Đông Bắc (literally "Northeast" from ) is the region to the north of the Red River Delta in Vietnam, bordering China. It is called ''Northeast'' to distinguish it from the Tây Bắc () or "Northwest", but it is actually in the north and northeast of Hanoi, wider than Việt Bắc () or "Northern Vietnam". A commune (xã) is a type of third tier subdivision of Vietnam. It is divided into 11,162 units along with wards and townships, which have an equal status.
