Čedomir Čupić
Čedomir Čupić ( sr-cyr, Чедомир Чупић, born 1947 in Sivac near Sombor) is a Serbian political scientist and professor at the Faculty of Political Sciences in Belgrade. He became known to the wider public in 2001, when he became a member, and later president, of the national Anti-Corruption Council. Biography Čupić was born in Sivac in 1947, where he completed the primary school. He completed Sombor gymnasium and studied at the Faculty of Political Sciences in Belgrade, where he received MA and PhD degrees. After graduation, he worked at Radio Belgrade, which he left in protest in 1992, as a sign of solidarity with colleagues who got sacked for political reasons. Čupić participated in opposition groups against policy of Slobodan Milošević, and he was particularly active in the Belgrade student protests 1996–97. Željko Mitrović
Željko Mitrović (born on 31 May 1967) is a Serbian media magnate, entrepreneur, investor, CEO and founder of the Pink Media Group. Career In 1988, Mitrović had founded one of the first music recording studios in Serbia. He opened a radio station in 1993, followed by TV Pinkstation in 1994. Later on, Mitrović founded the music publishing house CITY Records, which has more than 500 performers under its label. After launching satellite program, Mitrović launched TV Pink Montenegro in 2002 and Pink BiH, in Bosnia and Herzegovina a year later. Mitrović included a subsidiary in the Pink International Company: the ''PFI – Pink Films International'' – a film production complex catering producers of blockbusters and TV shows. ''Kurir'' is daily tabloid newspaper published in Belgrade, Serbia. History ''Kurir'' first issue appeared at the news stands on 6 May 2003. While Kurir's history is relatively short, it is also a checkered one. Otpor ( sr-Cyrl, Отпор!, en, Resistance!, stylized as Otpor!) was a political organization in Serbia (then part of FR Yugoslavia) from 1998 until 2004. In its initial period from 1998 to 2000, Otpor began as a civic protest group, eventually turning into a movement, which adopted the ''Narodni pokret'' (the People's Movement) title, against the policies of the Serbian authorities under the influence of Yugoslav president Slobodan Milošević. Following Milošević's overthrow in October 2000, Otpor became a political watchdog organization monitoring the activities of the post-Milošević period of the DOS coalition. Sivac
Sivac () is a village located in the municipality of Kula, Serbia. The village has a Serb ethnic majority with a sizable Montenegrin minority, with its population numbering 7,895 inhabitants (as of 2011 census). History The existence of Sivac is first mentioned in a list of settlements in Bačka from 1692. The village is divided into two connected settlements, ''Stari Sivac'', which was historically populated by Serbs and ''Novi Sivac'', which was historically populated by Swabians. Following World War II, Sivac was one of many villages in Vojvodina that were involved in the 'colonization' process in which refugees from across Yugoslavia were settled. Sivac was one of the few villages in Serbia in which the majority of post-war settlers were from Montenegro. 1996–1997 Protests In Serbia
In the winter of 1996–1997, university students and Serbian opposition parties organized a series of peaceful protests in the Republic of Serbia (then part of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia) in response to electoral fraud attempted by the Socialist Party of Serbia of President Slobodan Milošević after the 1996 local elections. During the course of the rallies, students held their protests separately from the citizens' ones, led by opposition then gathered in coalition ''Zajedno'' (Together). The students' protest lasted until 22 March 1997, with additional requests of replacing the management of University of Belgrade and return of the university autonomy. The protests started November 17, 1996 in Niš where thousands of opposition supporters gathered to protest against election fraud.
