Čedo Maras (born January 21, 1959) is a retired football goalkeeper who played in Yugoslavia and Croatia. The most notable feat in his career was winning the 1988–89 Yugoslav First League as a member of FK Vojvodina. Club career Born in Sinj (SR Croatia, SFR Yugoslavia), Maras made his debut in the Yugoslav First League with NK Osijek in the 1978–79 season. In 1985, he joined Second League side RFK Novi Sad but soon after he moved to FK Vojvodina where he will play until 1990 and be part of the championship winning squad in 1989. Sinj
Sinj (; it, Signo; german: Zein) is a town in the continental part of Split-Dalmatia County, Croatia. The town itself has a population of 11,478 and the population of the administrative municipality, which includes surrounding villages, is 24,826 (2011). Geography Sinj is located in the heart of the Dalmatian hinterland, the area known as ''Cetinska krajina'', a group of settlements situated on a fertile karstic field of Sinjsko polje through which the river Cetina passes. Sinj lies between four mountains: Svilaja, Dinara, Kamešnica and Visoka. Those mountains give Sinj its specific submediterranean climate (hotter summers and colder winters). 1978–79 Yugoslav First League
The 1978–79 Yugoslav First League season was the 33rd season of the First Federal League ( sh, Prva savezna liga), the top level association football competition of SFR Yugoslavia, since its establishment in 1946. Hajduk Split won the league title. A total of 18 teams competed in the league, with the defending champions Partizan nearly relegated, finishing the season in 15th place, one point above the relegation zone. Hajduk Split and Dinamo Zagreb both finished the season on 50 points, but Hajduk won the championship having the better goal difference. However, there was a controversy in the first round when Rijeka defeated Dinamo 2–1 at Kantrida. Dinamo claimed that Edmond Tomić, who joined Rijeka that season from Lirija, didn't serve a one-match suspension following two yellow cards received while playing for his former club.
