Āgenskalns
Āgenskalns (historically known also as ''Hāgenskalns'' or ''Hagensberg'') is a district in Riga, located on the left bank of the Daugava, an old neighbourhood, mainly built in the late 19th to early 20th century. The total area of Āgenskalns is 4,6 km2, which is a lot less than other districts of Riga. History First known building of Āgenskalns and whole Pārdaugava was the fortified Mara mill, which was mentioned already in 1226. As evidenced by maps of the 17th century, the village of Āgenskalns started next to crossroads of current Meža, Sētas and Nometņu Street and continued to develop alongside Nometņu Street. During the 17th century, Āgenskalns was little populated. Most of the non-auxiliary members of the Latvian trade house dominated there and also mercenaries - fishermen, anchors, wine barrel carriers, boatmen and others. Āgenskalns Market ( lv, Āgenskalna tirgus) is the oldest marketplace on the left bank of Daugava in Riga. Victory Park (Riga)
Victory Park ( lv, Uzvaras parks) is a park in Riga, located on the left bank of the Daugava, in the district of Āgenskalns.The modern area of the park is 36.7 hectares. Reinhold Schmaeling
Reinhold Georg Schmaeling (, 1840–1917) was a Baltic German architect of the city of Riga during years 1879 to 1915. Schmaeling is notable in the history of Riga for his unique style of red brick architecture. From his architectural drawings, almost 100 buildings have been built in Riga, including 25 schools, 3 hospitals, 5 fire departments, 2 markets, night shelters, kindergartens, administrative buildings, cultural institutions, sports and religious buildings, barracks and residential buildings, which are integral to today's architectural environment of Riga. Wilhelm Ludwig Nikolai Bockslaff ( lv, Vilhelms Ludvigs Nikolajs Bokslafs, russian: Вильгельм Людвиг Николай Бокслаф; , Riga – 9 March 1945, Poznań) was a Baltic German architect working in Riga. He is considered one of the most important representatives of Eclecticism, Neo-Gothic and Art Nouveau styles in the city. He is noted in particular for his construction of churches. Ojārs Vācietis (born November 13, 1933 — November 28, 1983) was a Latvian writer and poet. He is often considered one of the most famous and influential poets in the Latvian SSR. Biography Ojārs Vācietis was born on November 13, 1933 in Trapene Parish, Latvia. His father Oto Vācietis was a servant. Jānis Akuraters
Jānis Akuraters (13 January 1876 – 25 July 1937) was a Latvian poet, writer, playwright and politician. He founded the Latvian National Theatre in 1919 and was director of Radio of Riga between 1930 and 1934. Biography Akuraters was born on 13 January 1876 in Dignāja parish ''Jaunzemji'' homestead (Modern Jēkabpils municipality). His father was a forester. Akuraters studied in a Birži primary school and later in the Jēkabpils city school. Eduards Smiļģis
Eduards Smiļģis (23 November 1886 – 19 April 1966) was a Latvian actor and theatre director. He became a People's Artist of the USSR in 1948. Smiļģis founded the Dailes Theatre in Riga in 1920 and was its chief director until 1965. His home in Pārdaugava is now the Eduards Smiļģis Theater Museum.Live Riga

Georg Friedrich Ferdinand Kuphaldt ( lv, Georgs Frīdrīhs Ferdinands Kūfalts) (6 June 1853 in Plön, Holstein – 14 April 1938 in Berlin, Germany) was an influential German landscape architect, gardener and dendrologist of the Russian Empire. At the age of 27, Kuphaldt was promoted to the perhaps most prestigeful position in his career as director of the city gardens and parks in Riga. The following almost 35 years he was in charge of establishing and developing the newly created administration of the city's gardens and parks, of which structures has been preserved until today.
