Ülo Tuulik
Ülo Tuulik (born 22 February 1940, in Abruka Island, Saare County) is an Estonian writer. In 1963, he graduated from University of Tartu, Tartu State University in philology. From 1964-1966, he was the chairman of Young Authors' Association in Tallinn. Since 1974, he was a member of Estonian Writers' Union. His twin brother was writer Jüri Tuulik (1940-2014) and his cousin was writer Juhan Smuul. Abruka
Abruka () is a village in Estonia, primarily composed of the island of Abruka in the Gulf of Riga, 4 km south of the island of Saaremaa. The village includes the smaller adjacent islands of Vahase, Kasselaid, Linnusitamaa and Kirjurahu, resulting in a total area of . Abruka is part of Saaremaa Parish, Saare County. (retrieved 28 July 2021) The village has a population of 33 (as of 1 January 2011). The first records about the population on Abruka originate from the Middle Ages, when the area was ruled by the Prussian State of the Teutonic Order; the Bishop of Ösel-Wiek founded a horse breeding manor on the largest island, named Abro in the Teutonic Order's Low German language. Juhan Smuul
Juhan Smuul (18 February 1922 – 13 April 1971) was an Estonian writer. Until 1954 he used the given name Johannes Schmuul. Smuul was one of the most recognized writers in Estonian Soviet Socialist Republic, Soviet Estonia and was a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Estonia, a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the Soviet Union and the Supreme Soviet of the Estonian Soviet Socialist Republic, Supreme Soviet of the Estonian SSR, chairman of the Estonian Writers' Union, secretary of the board of the Union of Soviet Writers. Career Smuul was born in the village of Koguva on the island of Muhu to Jüri Schmuul (1863–1940) and Ruudu Schmuul (née Tuulik, 1882–1969). Jüri Tuulik (22 February 1940 Abruka island, Saare County – 3 June 2014 Kuressaare) was an Estonian writer and playwright. In 1963, he graduated from Tartu State University in Estonian philology. After graduating, he worked at the newspapers ''Edasi'', ''Noorte Hääl'' and the journal ''Vesikaar''. Since 1969, he was a professional writer.
