Ørbæk Municipality
Until January 1, 2007 Ørbæk Municipality was a municipality (Danish: '' kommune'') in the former Funen County, on the east coast of the island of Funen, in central Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 138.34 km2, and had a total population of 6,916 (2006). Its last mayor was Kaf Refslund, a member of the Venstre party. Ørbæk Municipality bordered Nyborg and Ullerslev Municipality to the north, Årslev Municipality to the northwest, Ringe Municipality to the west, Ryslinge Municipality to the southwest and Gudme Municipality to the south. The municipality ceased to exist as the result of ''Kommunalreformen 2007'' (the Municipality Reform of 2007). It was merged with Nyborg and Ullerslev municipalities to form a new Nyborg municipality. The new municipality belongs to Region of Southern Denmark. Frørup
Frørup is a village in central Denmark, located in Nyborg Municipality on the island of Funen in the Region of Southern Denmark. Frørup was a part of Ørbæk Municipality until 2007. History Frørup is first mentioned in 1231 under the name ''Frøthorp''. Between 1897 and 1964 Frørup was a station on the Svendborg-Nyborg railroad. The station in Frørup was designed by Heinrich Wenck. Frørup Church Frørup Church was built around 1140. On the cemetery is a tombstone from the 1200s, belonging to an ironsmith named Mads Pebling. The pegs inside the church are from 1612, and were donated to the church by owner of Holckenhavn, Jacob Ulfeldt, after a fire in Frørup and Frørup Church. Kerteminde Municipality (1970-2006)
Kerteminde Municipality ( da, Kerteminde Kommune) is a '' kommune'' in the Region of Southern Denmark on the northeast coast of the island of Funen in central Denmark. The municipality includes the island of Romsø, and it covers an area of 203 km2. It has a total population of 23,991 (2023). The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Kerteminde. Ferry service connects the municipality to the island of Romsø from the harbour in the town of Kerteminde. Until 1 January 2007 Munkebo municipality was a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in former Funen County on the northeast coast of the island of Funen in central Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 19 km2, and had a total population of 5,720 (2005). Its last mayor was Palle Hansborg-Sørensen, a member of the Social Democrats (Denmark) (''Socialdemokraterne'') political party. Odense County
Odense County ( da, Odense Amt) is a former province in Denmark, located on the northern half of the island of Funen in central Denmark. Odense County was established in 1806 and abolished in 1970 when it merged with Svendborg County forming the new Funen County. In 1662, the north Funen area was organized as a total of four counties: Odensegård, Rugård, Assens, and Hindsgavl. The four counties merged in 1806 forming Odense County, also including the Hindsholm peninsula from the former Nyborg County. This situation lasted from 1806 to 1970 when Odense and Svendborg merged to form Funen County. 1970 Danish Municipal Reform
The 1970 Danish Municipal Reform was an extensive administrative reform in Denmark which on 1 April 1970 reduced the number of Danish municipalities from 1,098 to 277 and the number of counties from 25 to 14. The reform also abolished the last legal privileges of the market towns ( sing. Danish: ''købstad''). The 1970 reform was followed by another municipal reform in 2007, namely the Structure Reform. This reform would further reduce the number of municipalities in Denmark, and replace the counties with regions. History In 1841, a law provided for the establishment of 1,021 parish municipalities (sing. Danish: ''sognekommune'') for the first time, and their numbers increased over the years, as did the number of ''købstadskommuner'' (sing. Danish: ''købstadskommune''). Svendborg County
Svendborg County () is a former province in Denmark, located on the southern half of the island of Funen in central Denmark. Svendborg County was established in 1793 and abolished in 1970 when it merged with Odense County forming the new Funen County. The south Funen area was organized as Nyborg County in 1662, a province also including the Hindsholm peninsula. Hindsholm was incorporated into the new Odense County while the bulk of the former province was merged with Tranekær County and renamed to Svendborg County. This situation lasted until 1970 when Odense and Svendborg merged to form Funen County. Svendborg County featured the market towns (''købstæder'') of Faaborg, Nyborg, Rudkøbing, Svendborg, and Ærøskøbing. The latter town became part of the province in 1864.
