Össur Skarphéðinsson
Össur Skarphéðinsson (pronounced ; born 19 June 1953) is an Icelandic politician who served as Minister for Foreign Affairs from February 2009 to May 2013. Össur matriculated from the Reykjavík Grammar School in 1973, and gained a BS in biology from the University of Iceland in 1979, and a doctorate from the University of East Anglia in 1983 entitled ''"The effect of photoperiod on the growth of the rainbow trout''". He was a member of the parliament (Althing) for the Reykjavík Constituency from 1991 to 2003, and for Reykjavík North Constituency from 2003 to 2016. He was Chairman of the Social Democratic Party parliamentary group from 1991 to 1993, Minister for the Environment from 1993 to 1995, and Chairman of the Social Democratic Alliance from 2000 to 2005. Margrét Frímannsdóttir (born 29 May 1954) is an Icelandic former politician and party leader. A member of the Althing between 1987 and 2007, she first represented the People's Alliance and later the Social Democratic Alliance (SDA). Biography Frímannsdóttir graduated in statistics from Selfoss School of Computer Science and for a time studied at Fjölbrautaskóli Suðurlands. She worked as a shop assistant, teacher at the Stokkseyri Primary School and as head of Stokkseyri district (1982–1990). The Social Democratic Party ( is, Alþýðuflokkurinn), officially the People's Party, was a social-democratic political party in Iceland. Menntaskólinn í Reykjavík (MR; official name in English: Reykjavik Junior College) is a junior college in Iceland. It is located in Reykjavík. The school traces its origin to 1056, when a school was established in Skálholt, and it remains one of the oldest institutions in Iceland. The school was moved to Reykjavík in 1786, but poor housing conditions forced it to move again in 1805 to Bessastaðir near Reykjavík. In 1846 the school was moved to its current location, and a new building was erected for it in Reykjavík. This was the largest building in the country at the time and can be seen on the 500 Icelandic krona bill. It was used initially when Althing began to meet again in Reykjavík after a few years hiatus and thus it is in this building where Icelandic independence leader Jón Sigurðsson led the MPs in their famous phrase, '' Vér mótmælum allir''.
