Ölschnitz (Red Main)
The Ölschnitz is right-bank, southeastern headstream of the Red Main in the German province of Upper Franconia in Bavaria. It is long, and including its source river ''Laimbach'' . Course The ''Ölschnitz'' starts at the confluence of the ''Laimbach'' and ''Bieberswöhrbach'' streams near Emtmannsberg-Unterölschnitz and discharges into the Red Main near Weidenberg-Neunkirchen. Red Main
The Red Main (german: Roter Main or ''Rotmain'') is a river in southern Germany. It is the southern, left headstream of the river Main. It rises in the hills of Franconian Switzerland, near Haag and flows generally northwest through the towns Creußen, Bayreuth, Heinersreuth and Neudrossenfeld. It merges with the White Main near Kulmbach to form the Main. The Red Main is long and descends a total of . Bayreuth () is a ''Landkreis'' (district) in Bavaria, Germany. It surrounds, but does not include the city of Bayreuth. The district is bounded by (from the north and clockwise) the districts of Kulmbach, Hof, Wunsiedel, Tirschenreuth, Neustadt an der Waldnaab, Amberg-Sulzbach, Nürnberger Land, Forchheim and Bamberg. History The district was established in 1972 by merging the former districts of Bayreuth and Pegnitz, adding the town Gefrees of the former district of Münchberg and the town of Speichersdorf of the former district of Kemnath.
