Í Fløtugerði is a association football, football stadium in Fuglafjørður, Faroe Islands. It is currently the home ground of ÍF Fuglafjørður. Its capacity is 1,200, including 360 seats. History On 15 November 1940, ÍF began purchasing land in northern part of Fuglafjørður. In the following years, the club obtained funding from the Fuglafjørður Municipality, municipality and loans, which has resulted in official opening of the stadium in 1956. On 12 August 1979, the record attendance was set. Over 1,500 people gathered around the stadium to watch the match between ÍF and TB Tvøroyri. The hosts won 3–1. Í Fløtugerði has hosted the Faroe Islands Cup final on 29 September 1985. GÍ Gøta won 4–2 against NSÍ Runavík, thus winning its second cup trophy. The stadium was renovated in 2008. Fuglafjørður
Fuglafjørður is a village on Eysturoy's east coast in the Faroe Islands. Its name means "fjord of birds". The village is at the edge of a bay and expands into the surrounding steep hills. The town centre is located close to the harbour and contains most of the shops and services. The harbour in Fuglafjørður is busy, as the town's economy is based on the processing of fish and fish meal. There is fishing-industry, a slip, production of trawl and also oil-depots. In the 1970s there was a terrible stink from the fishing-industry but that has since been solved. In the past years Fuglafjørður has also become famous for its newly established cultural centre in the town centre that has become one of the main cultural attractions in Eysturoy. The Faroe Islands ( ), or simply the Faroes ( fo, Føroyar ; da, Færøerne ), are a North Atlantic island group and an autonomous territory of the Kingdom of Denmark. Artificial turf is a surface of synthetic fibers made to look like natural grass. It is most often used in arenas for sports that were originally or are normally played on grass.
