Éliane Amado Levy-Valensi ( he, אליענה אמדו לוי-ולנסי; May 11, 1919 – May 10, 2006) was a French-Israeli psychologist, psychoanalyst and philosopher. Biography Éliane Levy-Valensi was born in Marseille to a Jewish family. In 1930 she moved with her parents to Saint-Mandé (Val-de-Marne) near Paris. She studied philosophy. She admitted the Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS), preparing her doctoral thesis. She taught philosophy at the Sorbonne In 1968 she emigrated to Israel, and became a professor of philosophy at Bar-Ilan University. Family She married Max Amado in 1942 and divorced from him in 1953. In 1960 she married Claude Veil, a psychiatrist and professor, and divorced from him in 1969. Eliane Becks Nininahazwe is a Burundian singer and musician, who is also known for promoting AIDS/HIV awareness both in Burundi, and in the Netherlands where she now lives. Career Eliane Becks Nininahazwe was born and raised in Murira, Commune of Gihanga, Burundi. She was brought up during the fighting between the Hutu and Tutsi tribes, which resulted in the death of her sister during childbirth as they could not get her to a hospital. She was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, and suffered from hyperglycaemia. Nininahazwe managed to control her blood sugar levels through regular checks. She fell pregnant, and her boyfriend left her, but she decided to keep the child. Four months after the birth, she met Dutchman Michael Becks, and with him moved to Angola for his work. Eliane Chappuis (born 1978) is a model, actress, singer, and producer. She was born in Hollywood, to Swiss-French-Vietnamese parents. When six months old, her parents decided to raise her in Bern, Switzerland, where she spent her childhood with her siblings. At thirteen years of age she already played violin and performed under the conduct of Sir Yehudi Menuhin in the orchestra of the conservatory during his visits to Switzerland. Éliane Duthoit (born 1946 in Brittany), a French citizen, is a senior United Nations official at the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). Elias was born in São Paulo, Brazil on 19 March 1960. She started studying piano when she was seven, and at age twelve she was transcribing solos from jazz musicians. She began teaching piano when she was fifteen, and began performing at seventeen with Brazilian singer-songwriter Toquinho and touring with the poet Vinicius de Moraes. In 1981 she moved to New York City, where she attended The Juilliard School of Music. A year later she became part of the group Steps Ahead. Éliane Jeannin Garreau (March 18, 1911 – June 15, 1999) served in World War II in France as part of the French Resistance. Biography She was the "right-hand person" to the leader of the French Resistance. Nazis captured her and placed her in Ravensbrück. While there, she was tortured for the name of the leader (whom they had also unknowingly captured), but she would not speak. When she was not being tortured or working she would draw different scenes of what was happening in the women's concentration camps. She was eventually released and married Roger Garreau in 1948. She had one daughter, Anne. She wrote a book about her experiences, titled ''Les Cris de la Memoire'' or ''Cries of Memory''. Éliane Sophie Plewman (6 December 1917 – 13 September 1944) was a British agent of Special Operations Executive (SOE) and member of the French Resistance working as a courier for the "MONK circuit" in occupied France during World War II. SOE's objective was to conduct espionage, sabotage and reconnaissance against the Axis Powers, especially Nazi Germany in occupied Europe and to aid local resistance movements. Plewman was captured by the Gestapo, and later executed by the SS in Dachau. Pre-war life Plewman was born Éliane Sophie Browne-Bartroli in Marseille, France.
