Åssiden is the largest borough of Drammen in Buskerud county, Norway. Åssiden was a part of Lier municipality until 1951, when it became part of Drammen municipality. Åssiden is located on the western side of Drammen, north of the Drammenselva. Historically Åssiden was the location through which lumber was transported via Drammenselva into the city. Åssiden Elvepark is a park which was built on old landfill sites by the Drammenselva. Åssiden is the location of the vocational school, Åssiden Upper Secondary School (''Åssiden videregående skole''). Åssiden IF is a local sports club which has sections for association football and team handball. Drammen Racecourse (''Drammen Travbane'') is also located in Åssiden. Ã…ssiden Idrettsforening (nicknamed "Ã…ssia") is a Norwegian sports club from Drammen, Buskerud. It has sections for association football and handball, and skiing, previously also bandy. Arne Dokken
Arne Dokken (born 27 August 1955) is a Norwegian former football player and coach. He played as forward for several Norwegian clubs and two Greek clubs and 24 matches for Norway national football team scoring two goals. In eight seasons in the Norwegian top division he played 147 matches scoring 64 goals. He was top scorer in 1. divisjon in 1975 and 1980. His son Kenneth Dokken also became a footballer. Playing career Club career Arne Dokken was born in Drammen, started his career in Åssiden IF and went to Strømsgodset IF 19 years old. In the 1975 season he became top scorer in Norwegian top flight. He continued to Lillestrøm SK winning gold medals in the Norwegian Cup 1978 and the league 1981. Drammen
Drammen () is a city and municipality in Viken (county), Viken, Norway. The port and river city of Drammen is centrally located in the south-eastern and most populated part of Norway. Drammen municipality also includes smaller towns and villages such as Konnerud, Svelvik, Mjøndalen and Skoger. Lier is a municipality in Viken county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Lierbyen. Odd Østbye
Odd Kjeld Østbye (1925–2009) was a Norwegian architect, professor at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design (1988-1993), and rector of the same school from 1990–1993. After graduating with his examen artium degree in 1944, Østbye studied construction at the Norwegian National Academy of Craft and Art Industry until 1948, in preparation for a getting his degree at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design. From 1949-1952, he worked for the Oslo city architect's office. In 1961, Østbye began his own architectural business. Østbye received the King's Medal of Merit in 2004. Buskerud
Buskerud () is a former county and a current electoral district in Norway, bordering Akershus, Oslo, Oppland, Sogn og Fjordane, Hordaland, Telemark and Vestfold. The region extends from the Oslofjord and Drammensfjorden in the southeast to Hardangervidda mountain range in the northwest. The county administration was in modern times located in Drammen. Drammenselva
Drammenselva ( en, Drammen River) is a river in Buskerud county, southeastern Norway. Location Drammenselva is one of the largest rivers in Norway, with a drainage basin of about and a discharge of per second. Drammen River's total length is making it the fifth longest river in Norway. Its 48 km course runs from Tyrifjorden in the north to Drammensfjord in the south, where it cuts through the centre of the city of Drammen. The Drammen River gathers inflow from several streams and rivers. The largest include the Simoa River.
