Ã…shild Hauan (20 April 1941–1 December 2017) was a Norwegian politician for the Labour Party. She served as the County Governor of Nordland county from 1991 until 2007. Personal life She was born on 20 April 1941 in Velfjord in southern Nordland county in Norway. Her parents were sawmill owner Paul Drevland (1914-1978) and homemaker Gunnvor Wester (1919-1979). She married Ã…sbjørn Hauan and had two children, and later three grandchildren. She died of cancer on 1 December 2017 in the town of Bodø in Nordland county, Norway. Education and career She held various positions on the Rana Municipality council between 1975 and 1983. Hauan was a member of Nordland county council between 1979 and 1983. She served in the position of deputy representative in the Parliament of Norway during the term from 1977–1981. Velfjord
Velfjord is a former municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1875 until its dissolution in 1964. Velfjord municipality was centered around the Velfjorden in what is now Brønnøy Municipality. Most of the municipality is located on the mainland, but it also includes nearly 100 small islands, islet, and skjerries. The administrative centre was the village of Hommelstø at the innermost part of the fjord. Velfjord Church lies just west of Hommelstø. History The municipality of Velfjord was created on 1 October 1875 when the large Brønnøy Municipality was divided into Brønnøy (in the west) and Velfjord (in the east). Kunnskapsforlaget () is a Norwegian publishing company based in Oslo. Kunnskapsforlaget was established in 1975, as a partnership between H. Aschehoug & Co. (W. Nygaard) and Gyldendal Norsk Forlag. The Storting ( no, Stortinget ) (lit. the Great Thing) is the supreme legislature of Norway, established in 1814 by the Constitution of Norway. It is located in Oslo. The county governor ( nb, statsforvalteren; nn, statsforvaltaren, lit. ''state administrator'' in English) is a Norwegian government agency that represents the central government administration in every county in Norway. Responsible for a number of supervision and management duties, the governor is the representative of the king and the government of Norway in each county, functioning as the connection between the state and the municipalities.
