Municipalities Of Sweden
The municipalities of Sweden ( sv, Sveriges kommuner) are its lower-level local government entities. There are 290 municipalities which are responsible for a large proportion of local services, including schools, emergency services and physical planning. Foundation The Local Government Act of 1991 specifies several responsibilities for the municipalities, and provides outlines for local government, such as the process for electing the municipal assembly. It also regulates a process (''laglighetsprövning'', "legality trial") through which any citizen can appeal the decisions of a local government to a county court. Municipal government in Sweden is similar to city commission government and cabinet-style council government. A legislative municipal assembly ''(kommunfullmäktige)'' of between 31 and 101 members (always an odd number) is elected from party-list proportional representation at municipal elections, held every four years in conjunction with the national general ele ...

UFO-Memorial Ängelholm
The UFO-Memorial Ängelholm is a statue dedicated to a supposed unidentified flying object (UFO) landing in Kronoskogen, a forested area of Ängelholm, Sweden. The memorial consists of a model of the UFO and the landing traces, and is constructed of concrete. The UFO-Memorial Ängelholm memorialises the landing of a UFO, which is said to have taken place on 18 May 1946 and to have been seen by the Swedish entrepreneur, founder and owner of Cernelle AB, Gösta Carlsson.´ It is situated in a forest clearing at Kronoskogen, which had witnessed numerous "large-scale test flights" in that time period. By 1991, Carlsson was credited in English-language UFO lore. In 1995, Swedish ufologist Clas Svahn wrote a book together with Carlsson about the incident, ''Mötet i gläntan'' ("The Meeting in the Clearing"). According to him, there was no convincing evidence that the event ever took place the way Carlsson described it. A few other such memorials exist in Europe (other example ...

Twin Towns
A sister city or a twin town relationship is a form of legal or social agreement between two geographically and politically distinct localities for the purpose of promoting cultural and commercial ties. While there are early examples of international links between municipalities akin to what are known as sister cities or twin towns today dating back to the 9th century, the modern concept was first established and adopted worldwide during World War II. Origins of the modern concept The modern concept of town twinning has its roots in the Second World War. More specifically, it was inspired by the bombing of Coventry on 14 November 1940, known as the Coventry Blitz. First conceived by the then Mayor of Coventry, Alfred Robert Grindlay, culminating in his renowned telegram to the people of Stalingrad (now Volgograd) in 1942, the idea emerged as a way of establishing solidarity links between cities in allied countries that went through similar devastating events.
