Älpelekopf (Gerstruben)
Älpelekopf is a mountain with an elevation of 1,606 m (5,269 ft) in the Alps. Älpelekopf has a secondary peak situated on a ridge which runs southwest from Riffenkopf to Schrofen at which point the ridge falls off steeply. The ridges connecting Riffenkopf, Hahnenkopf and Wannenkopf (Gerstruben), Wannenkopf form a ring around the valley ''Gerstruber Älpeles''. This valley has a deserted cabin and was formerly used as a pastoral area. There's a second cabin to the north, called ''Lugenalpe'' which is in current use. There is no marked path up to the summit. It can be summited via ''Gerstruber Älpele'', but the trail requires technical experience. Älpelekopf is not a typical tourist destination. The Allgäu Alps (german: Allgäuer Alpen) are a mountain range in the Northern Limestone Alps, located in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg in Germany and Tyrol and Vorarlberg in Austria. The range lies directly east of Lake Constance. Riffenkopf
Riffenkopf is a 1,748 m high mountain in the Allgäu Alps in Bavaria, Germany. The peak is located on the ridge that extends from Höfats The Höfats is a 2,259 m high mountain in the Allgäu Alps. Located near Oberstdorf, it separates the Oy and the Dietersbach valleys, along with the Rauheck and other lower summits. With its very steep faces it is the most striking of the A ... mountain to the west-north-west and is sometimes referred to as a foothill of Höfats. It is the first distinct summit on the ridge separating the Oy and Dietersbach valleys. There are no marked hiking trails on the Riffenkopf. Schrofen
Schrofen, a German mountaineering term, is steep terrain, strewn with rocks and rock outcrops, that is laborious to cross, but whose rock ledges (''schrofen'') offer many good steps and hand holds. It is usually rocky terrain on which grass has established itself, but it can also refer to purely rocky slopes. ''Schrofen'' are found especially where the rock has broken off against its angle of dip. ''Schrofen'' differs from trackless terrain in that hands are needed in order to negotiate it.
