''Árvore'' (''"Tree"'') was a Portuguese literary magazine, published in Lisbon between 1951 and 1953, in a total of four issues. An independent publication with a specialization in poetry, ''Árvore'' was mainly focused on discussion and criticism, as well as on the dissemination of the poetry of young poets, critical reviews of poetic works, and essays "in defense of Poetry". Contributors This magazine was directed and edited by António Luís Moita, António Ramos Rosa, José Terra, Luís Amaro and Raul de Carvalho. Artistic collaborators included Cipriano Dourado, Lima de Freitas and Fernando Lanhas. Natércia Freire
Natércia Freire GOIH (28 October 1919 – 17 December 2004) was a Portuguese journalist, writer, poet and translator. Early life Natércia Ribeiro de Oliveira Freire was born in Benavente in the Santarém District of Portugal, the last of four daughters of João Ribeiro de Oliveira Freire and Maria Emília Freire. One of her sisters was the novelist, Maria da Graça Freire. Natércia studied music and also took a course to become a primary school teacher, becoming one in 1944. Career Encouraged to write by her husband, José Isidro dos Santos, Freire first published a collection of poems in 1935, called ''Castelos de sonho'' (Dream castles), at the age of 17. Vergílio António Ferreira, JOSE (Melo, Gouveia, 28 January 1916 – Lisbon, 1 March 1996) was a Portuguese writer, essayist, professor and a key figure in Portuguese-language literature. Paul Éluard (), born Eugène Émile Paul Grindel (; 14 December 1895 – 18 November 1952), was a French poet and one of the founders of the Surrealist movement. In 1916, he chose the name Paul Éluard, a matronymic borrowed from his maternal grandmother. He adhered to Dadaism and became one of the pillars of Surrealism by opening the way to artistic action politically committed to the Communist Party. Luísa Dacosta (16 February 1927, in Vila Real as Maria Luísa Pinto Saraiva dos Santos – 15 February 2015, in Matosinhos) was a Portuguese writer. In 2010 she was awarded the Vergílio Ferreira Prize by the University of Evora.
