Ángel Rodríguez (footballer, Born 1879)
Ángel Rodríguez Ruiz (13 October 1879 – 10 May 1959) was the founder and first president of the Real Club Deportivo Español. He was also a footballer for the club between 1903 and 1905. Biography Ángel Rodríguez was born in Barcelona as the son of Rafael Rodríguez Méndez (1845–1949), an Andalusian doctor and politician settled in Catalonia, who was chancellor of the University of Barcelona from 1902 to 1905, and who stood out for his positioning against the use of Catalan language in the University. In 1900, when he was studying engineering, at the age of 21, Rodríguez became fond of football after watching a match between English sailors and Català FC. When he was unable to join a team, which were made up of foreigners, whose quality was much better than his own, he thus decided to found a Football Society himself. The Catalan football championship ''(Campionat de Catalunya)'' was a football competition in Catalonia and the first football league in Spain before La Liga was established in 1929. Gustavo Gren Córdoba (10 May 1880 - 9 November 1965), better known as Gustavo Green, as he was often mentioned in the press of his time (Gustavo H. Green y Córdoba ), was a Spanish footballer who played as a forward for FC Barcelona and RCD Espanyol. After spending his childhood in a south London neighborhood, he settled in Barcelona and began playing friendlies with Escocès FC, Catalá FC, and ''Team Roig''. He was captain of the side that won the very first official title in Spanish football, the 1900–01 Copa Macaya with Hispania AC. He won all three editions of the Copa Macaya with three different clubs ( Hispania AC, Barça and Español), being the only one to do so. Ángel Ponz
Ángel Ponz Junyent (1883 - 20 August 1936) was a Spanish footballer who played as a forward for Club Español (now known as RCD Espanyol). Although little has been recorded of his life, he was one of the most important footballers in the amateur beginnings of RCD Espanyol, being among the founding members of the club in 1900, and then serving the club as a forward, winning the 1902–03 Copa Macaya, which was the club's first-ever official title, as well as netting the club's only goal at the 1902 Copa de la Coronación (the forerunner for the Copa del Rey). He spent his entire 12-year career at Espanyol, sept for the three years in which the club had to cease its activities (1906–09), being the first great figure of the club.
