Ángel Parra Trío
Ángel Parra Trío is a Chilean jazz band lead by guitarist and composer Ángel Parra Jr. and created in 1989. History Ángel Parra Trío consolidated itself as the first substantive project in the renovation of the Chilean jazz scene once the Chile under Pinochet, military regime collapsed and the mandatory silence ended. Given the permanent musical reinvention that made it possible for a long time, the group also catapulted Parra beyond the territories of rock, through his militancy in the group Los Tres, and put his name among the most popular Chilean guitarists. The prehistory of the famous jazz trio dates back to the late '80s, when the jazz-rock group ''Cometa'' was experiencing its last moments before becoming La Marraqueta. Luis Roberto Parra Sandoval (June 29, 1921 – April 21, 1995), also known as El Tío Roberto (''Uncle Roberto''), was a Chilean singer-songwriter, guitarist and folklorist, member of the Parra family, many of whose members are famous artists. Joe Pass (born Joseph Anthony Jacobi Passalaqua; January 13, 1929 – May 23, 1994) was an American jazz guitarist. Pass is well known for his work stemming from numerous collaborations with pianist Oscar Peterson and vocalist Ella Fitzgerald, and is often heralded as one of the most unique and notable jazz guitarists of the 20th century. Barney Kessel (October 17, 1923 – May 6, 2004) was an American jazz guitarist born in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Known in particular for his knowledge of chords and inversions and chord-based melodies, he was a member of many prominent jazz groups as well as a "first call" guitarist for studio, film, and television recording sessions.
