Álvaro Peña (Spanish Footballer)
Álvaro Peña Herrero (born 24 October 1991) is a Spanish professional footballer who plays mainly as a central midfielder for Dutch club Almere City. Having been brought up at Athletic Bilbao (two competitive appearances), he scored 17 Segunda División goals in 246 games over seven seasons, playing for Lugo, Alcorcón, Albacete, Mirandés and Amorebieta. Club career Born in Bilbao, Biscay, Peña joined local Athletic Bilbao's youth system in 2006, aged 15. After appearing for farm team CD Basconia, he went on to spend two full seasons with the B side in the Segunda División B. Peña made his debut with the main squad on 28 November 2012, starting in a 2–0 away win against Hapoel Ironi Kiryat Shmona F.C. in the group stage of the UEFA Europa League. Segunda División B ( en, Second Division B) was the third tier of the Spanish football league system containing 102 teams divided into five groups, until it was replaced by the new structure in 2021. It was administered by the Royal Spanish Football Federation. It was below the top two professional leagues, the ''Primera División'' (also known as La Liga) and the ''Segunda División'', and above the ''Tercera División''. 2019–20 Segunda División
The 2019–20 Segunda División season, also known as LaLiga SmartBank for sponsorship reasons, was the 89th since its establishment. On 12 March 2020 after most of teams had played 31 games, the league was suspended for at least two weeks due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Spain. The league was suspended indefinitely on 23 March. The season recommenced on 10 June and was initially planned to be completed on 20 July. On 20 July 2020, the final day of the regular season, Deportivo La Coruña's match against Fuenlabrada was suspended indefinitely due to several Fuenlabrada players testing positive for COVID-19, therefore, delaying the official end of the season. The match was finally played on 7 August, resulting in a 2–1 win for Deportivo. The 2013 Segunda División B play-offs (Playoffs de Ascenso or Promoción de Ascenso) were the final playoffs for promotion from 2012–13 Segunda División B to the 2013–14 Segunda División. The four first placed teams in each of the four Segunda División B groups played the ''Playoffs de Ascenso'' and the four last placed teams in Segunda División were relegated to Segunda División B.
