Álvaro Martínez Aguinaga (born 9 February 1979) is a Spanish retired footballer who played as a right-back. Club career Martínez was born in Estella-Lizarra, Navarre. Having spent the vast majority of his career in the lower leagues, he started with Athletic Bilbao but only appeared for its farm team and reserves, CD Basconia and Bilbao Athletic respectively. From 2001 onwards, Martínez represented Alicante CF, CD Recreación de La Rioja, CD River Ega, CF Vilanova, UE Figueres, Sestao River Club, SD Eibar (his first and only Segunda División experience, playing 17 matches in 2008–09's relegation) and Barakaldo CF. Personal life Martínez's younger brother, Javier, was also a footballer. Estella-Lizarra
Estella (Spanish) or Lizarra (Basque) is a town located in the autonomous community of Navarre, in northern Spain. It lies south west of Pamplona, close to the border with La Rioja and Álava. The town was founded in 1090 when the place, lying by the fortified settlement of Lizarra, was granted a charter by the Pamplonese king Sancho Ramirez. The 2012 UEFA European Football Championship, commonly referred to as UEFA Euro 2012 or simply Euro 2012, was the 14th European Championship for men's national football teams organised by UEFA. Javier "Javi" Martínez Aginaga (; born 2 September 1988) is a Spanish professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder or central defender for Qatar Stars League club Qatar SC. 2008–09 Segunda División
The 2008–09 Segunda División season (known from that season as Liga Adelante for sponsorship reasons) was the 78th since its establishment. The first matches of the season were played on 30 August 2008, and the season ended on 21 June 2009. Real Zaragoza, Real Murcia and Levante were the teams relegated from La Liga the previous season. Alicante, Girona, Huesca and Rayo Vallecano were the teams promoted from Segunda División B the previous season. The first goal of the season was scored by Alexandre Geijo, who scored in the 11th minute for Levante against Real Zaragoza in the early kick-off.
