Álvaro Flórez Estrada
Álvaro Flórez Estrada (Pola de Somiedo, Asturias, 1765 – Noreña, Asturias, 1853), a Spanish economist, lawyer and politician. Biography He studied humanities and then Law at the University of Oviedo and moved to Madrid, where he became a magistrate. Early career At thirty he was appointed treasurer-general of the Kingdom by Manuel Godoy, a position that, after some time he resigned from, considering his work incompatible with the liberal convictions he professed. Though he retired to Pola de Somiedo, the General Board of the Principality named him its attorney general in 1798. When the uprising of Asturias against Napoleon took place in 1808, he sensed that "the fight against the invader does not make sense unless it is at the same time a political revolution", drafted the Proclamation of the Junta and also the Charter of the latter asking help from the King of England. The Miguel de Cervantes Virtual Library (MCVL; in es, Biblioteca Virtual Miguel de Cervantes, BVMC) is a large-scale digital library project, hosted and maintained by the University of Alicante in Alicante, Spain. The banknotes of the Spanish peseta were emitted by the Bank of Spain in 1874–2001 until the introduction of the euro. From 1940 the banknotes were produced by the Royal Mint (Spain), Royal Mint (Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre). In about the same year the inscription "El Banco de España" on both sides of the banknotes was temporarily changed to "Banco de España", as the Spanish_determiners#Definite_articles, definite article "el" was dropped. There is no significant legislation on the copyright of the Spanish peseta banknotes and their reproductions are permitted, except for advertising. Museum Of Fine Arts Of Asturias
The Museum of Fine Arts of Asturias ( es, Museo de Bellas Artes de Asturias) is a museum in Oviedo, Asturias, Spain. It is situated within three buildings: the Palacio de Velarde, the House of Oviedo-Portal, and the House of Solís-Carbajal. The museum was conceived on 13 June 1844, by Royal Decree, and inaugurated 19 May 1980, from the art collection owned by the former province of Oviedo. It now depends on funding from the Culture Department of Asturias, and the City of Oviedo. An expansion project is underway by the museum's architect, Francisco Beloqui Mangado. Collection The fine arts collection includes up to 10,000 inventoried items, with 350–400 on public display at one time. There are paintings by Spanish artists, highlighting those from Asturias, as well as those from foreign countries, such as Italian (like Umberto Pettinicchio) and Flemish painters. Oviedo
Oviedo (; ast, Uviéu ) is the capital city of the Principality of Asturias in northern Spain and the administrative and commercial centre of the region.
