Album
An album is a collection of audio recordings issued on compact disc (CD), Phonograph record, vinyl, audio tape, or another medium such as Digital distribution#Music, digital distribution. Albums of recorded sound were developed in the early 20th century as individual Phonograph record#78 rpm disc developments, 78 rpm records collected in a bound book resembling a photograph album; this format evolved after 1948 into single vinyl LP record, long-playing (LP) records played at revolutions per minute, rpm. ''Album'' was a monthly art photography magazine from Album Photographic Ltd. that published 12 issues between February 1970 and January 1971. Although it was a short-lived publication, ''Album'' is important in that it featured budding photographers who have since become notable, including several members of Magnum Photos. Featured photographers include Bill Brandt, W. Eugene Smith and Emmet Gowin. History and profile ''Album'' was founded and edited by Bill Jay (previously editor of ''Creative Camera''); the publisher was Aidan Ellis (also previously with ''Creative Camera,'' as artist and publisher); and Tristram Powell, a television and film director, was in charge of finance. A sticker album is a book in which collectable stickers are stuck into designated sections. Sticker album themes can be sporting events such as the FIFA World Cup, English Premier League or TV shows, Movies, Animals or Music. Panini were the first company to release a collectable football sticker doing so in 1961, but coming more prominent with their release of the 1970 World Cup album. Merlin Publishing and Topps also notably mass produced sticker albums of a variety of different subjects. History Panini first produced a World Cup sticker album for the 1970 World Cup in Mexico. Muraqqa
A Muraqqa ( tr, Murakka, ar, مورّقة, fa, مُرَقّع) is an album in book form containing Islamic miniature paintings and specimens of Islamic calligraphy, normally from several different sources, and perhaps other matter. The album was popular among collectors in the Islamic world, and by the later 16th century became the predominant format for miniature painting in the Persian Safavid, Mughal and Ottoman empires, greatly affecting the direction taken by the painting traditions of the Persian miniature, Ottoman miniature and Mughal miniature. The album largely replaced the full-scale illustrated manuscript of classics of Persian poetry, which had been the typical vehicle for the finest miniature painters up to that time. Confession Album
The confession album, or confession book, was a kind of autograph book popular in late-nineteenth-century Britain. Instead of leaving free room for invented or remembered poetry, it provided a formulaic catechism. The genre died out towards the end of the century, with occasional brief revivals in the twentieth century.
