''38 Special'' is the debut studio album by American rock band 38 Special, released in 1977 by A&M Records. It was remastered and reissued on the Lemon record label in 2003. Two singles, "Long Time Gone" (A&M 1946-S) and "Tell Everybody" (A&M 1964-S), were released, but neither charted on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. "Around and Around" is a cover of a 1958 song by Chuck Berry. Don Barnes
Richard Donald Barnes (born December 3, 1952) is an American rock vocalist and guitarist and one of the founding members of the Southern rock band 38 Special. Barnes performed lead vocals on nearly all of the group's biggest hits, including " Rockin' into the Night", "Hold On Loosely", "Caught Up in You", "If I'd Been the One", "Back Where You Belong", "Like No Other Night", "Somebody Like You", " Teacher Teacher", "Back to Paradise", "You Keep Runnin' Away", "Fantasy Girl" and more. Barnes left the band in 1987, with the song "Back to Paradise" (from the movie '' Revenge of the Nerds II: Nerds in Paradise'') being his final hit with the band. He was replaced by Max Carl. Gregory Calbi (born April 3, 1949) is an American mastering engineer at Sterling Sound, New Jersey. Biography Greg Calbi was born on April 3, 1949, in Yonkers, New York, and raised in Bayside, Queens, New York. He graduated in 1966 from Bishop Reilly High School in Fresh Meadows. Calbi earned his bachelor's degree in Mass Communications at Fordham University where he studied with Marshall McLuhan and his staff for 3 of those years. He then earned his master's degree in Political Media Studies (Speech Department) at the University of Massachusetts. Carl Hall (June 24, 1934 - September 28, 1999) was an American singer, actor, and musical arranger. Background Carl Henry Carldwell was born on June 24, 1934 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the son of Carl and Jessie M. (Johnson) Carldwell. He was raised in the West End of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Because of a reticence to talk about his age, his birthdate was not known to the public until after his death. By November 1950 when his Social Security number was issued, he was also known as Carl Hall. Dobro is an American brand of resonator guitars, currently owned by Gibson and manufactured by its subsidiary Epiphone. The term "dobro" is also used as a generic term for any wood-bodied, single-cone resonator guitar. The Dobro was originally a guitar manufacturing company founded by the Dopyera brothers with the name "Dobro Manufacturing Company". The pedal steel guitar is a Console steel guitar, console-type of steel guitar with pedals and knee levers that change the pitch of certain strings to enable playing more varied and complex music than any previous steel guitar design. Like all steel guitars, it can play unlimited glissando, glissandi (sliding notes) and deep vibrato, vibrati—characteristics it shares with the human voice. Pedal steel is most commonly associated with American country music and Music of Hawaii, Hawaiian music. He was born to mother Joyce Lavelle Godwin Lyons and father Clynn Leo Lyons in Jacksonville, Florida. He founded 38 Special with Don Barnes, Donnie Van Zant, Jack Grondin, Steve Brookins, and Jeff Carlisi in 1974. He was a member of 38 special from 1974 to 1977.
