Prokaryotic ubiquitin-like protein (Pup) is a functional analog of ubiquitin found in the prokaryoteMycobacterium tuberculosis. Like ubiquitin, Pup serves to direct proteins to the proteasome for degradation in the Pup-proteasome system (PPS).
