The Lower Carniolan dialect (Slovene: dolenjsko narečje, dolenjščina) is a major Slovene dialect in the Lower Carniolan dialect group. It is one of the two central Slovene dialects and was the original foundation for standard Slovene along with the Ljubljana urban dialect.
