Web conferencing

Web conferencing enables individuals from various locations to attend meetings via the Internet. The participants have the opportunity to communicate by voice and video and can share screens, documents, chat messages and other content depending on the service. Today's Web-conferencing solutions can run in web browsers and leverage WebRTC technologies for real-time communication.

Web-conferencing services can also offer breakout rooms, collaborative whiteboards, live transcription or captions, meeting recording and screen sharing. For instance, while talking with Zoom, during a virtual meeting one can share their screen, record the meeting, have breakout rooms, and get auto-captions, and in Microsoft Teams one can share audio, video, chat, and share their screen in a virtual meeting.

WebRTC is a collection of standards and protocols that enables real-time communication applications on the Web. WebRTC's architecture is defined by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) as well as the protocols for transporting real-time media and data between participants.
