According to the Icelandic sagas, Swedish slave revolts occurred at some time between the 5th and 6th centuries, and resulted in the Swedish king Ongentheow being deposed. These large-scale slave revolts were reportedly led by a thrall known as Tunni. Tunni subsequently became king of Svealand after defeating the Swedish king.
