Topic summary
Theodosians (miaphysite faction)
The Theodosians, also known as Severians or Severans, were a faction within the non-Chalcedonian Christian movement in the 6th and 7th centuries. Out of all the miaphysite sects, which numbered over 20, the Theodosians were the largest, the most mainstream, and relatively close in their theology to Chalcedonian Christianity. Their faction eventually became the Coptic Orthodox Church and the Syriac Orthodox Church. The Armenian Apostolic Church initially espoused a form of aphthartodocetism at the 555 Second Council of Dvin, but later adopted Theodosianism at the 726 Council of Manzikert.
