Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances

Extracted from the Wikipedia article PFAS.

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS or PFASs) are a group of synthetic organofluorinechemical compounds that have multiple fluorine atoms attached to an alkyl chain. Because of their high chemical and thermal stability, these compounds have long environmental lifetimes, and thus are commonly referred to as "forever chemicals".
