Office of Inspector General of the United States Department of Defense

The Office of Inspector General of the United States Department of Defense (also known as Office of Inspector General of the United States Department of War) (DoD OIG or DoW OIG) is the internal oversight office for the United States Department of Defense. It provides oversight related to the programs and operations of the department. The office was created in 1982 as an amendment to the Inspector General Act of 1978.
